Some commercial technology devices are becoming useful tools in the classroom. According to the Miami Herald, one example is the popular iPad tablet, which will soon be used by schoolchildren in Tampa, Florida.
More than 900 iPads are set to be delivered to Hillsborough County schools and will be used by teachers and students alike. However, the tablet comes with a price tag of $350 to $600. Add on the additional expense of teacher training courses for the tablet and the average cost reaches $1,000 per unit, stated the news source. However, the federal government is expected to provide the school system with enough grant money to cover the cost of the technology initiative.
Teachers in Tampa may soon find that their students learn better through technology. Furthermore, forward-thinking educators may decide to introduce more technology to their students, such as an interactive whiteboard, an educational software program or a
DLP projector.
A growing number of schools in Florida now tote iPad programs. According to RSWFlorida, Collier County schools recently began pilot programs to test the devices' effectiveness in education.
