The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education recently announced that it received a $1 million donation from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The WCET is an organization dedicated to improving student outcomes, reported the new source. The grant money will be used to connect data aggregation processes in six U.S. universities currently researching methods that will better predict student success in higher education.
"We all have a vested interest in improving student outcomes in the United States," said Ellen Wagner, executive director of WCET. "WCET is thrilled that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has given us the opportunity to convene this exemplary team of member institutions."
The study of student success and failure rates relies on predictive analytics theories and advanced statistical analysis. WCET organization employees and professors may want to improve their research efficiency by using grant money to buy an interactive whiteboard, a statistical sciences program or an HDMI projector.
Technology is a vital aid for researchers who are constantly looking for ways to improve educational methodology. Their findings may be vital for the future of the United States, as now more than ever is higher education considered a necessity.
