The Massachusetts Institute of Technology recently opened the doors of a new facility that will house its school of management, reports the Hindu.
The funding for the advanced center came from the Akmiba Paul Foundation, which was started by India's Lord Paul after he lost his daughter to leukemia in 1978. The decision to choose MIT as a beneficiary came naturally to the nobleman's family, as many of them attended the university.
"The family is delighted to be in a position to offer valuable support to an academic community of such excellence, and one which has also been attended by so many members of our family,” said Lord Paul's son, Akash, who attended the center's grand opening.
The funds bestowed by the foundation totaled $1 million, and the center's new mezzanine creates a meeting place for technology students to share ideas. From this think tank, it is entirely possible that a tech-savvy student will develop a next-generation educational computer, a 3D learning system or a highly advanced
DLP projector.
College grants often benefit the technology sector. According to the News Advance, a college in Virginia will use grant money to provide technology training for elementary school teachers.
