The Greater St. Charles Education Foundation in Illinois recently announced it has awarded more than $47,000 to local schools to improve technology and invest in other projects, the St. Charles Republican reports.
Grants range from $300 to more than $4,000. The grants will be divided among 29 separate projects for District 303, including the purchasing of computers, media tablets, classroom projectors and more.
One project, dubbed Zooming in on Learning, will provide a pair of overhead projectors for classrooms at Norton Creek and Fox Ridge elementary schools. Another, the Making Visual Arts More Visual, will go toward the purchasing of a classroom projector and mount for Wredling Middle School.
Many educators have found they can use technology, such as a computer, a media tablet and an HDMI projector, to create an environment that is more fun for students. This, in turn, helps keep students engaged in lectures.
The Greater St. Charles Education Foundation also awarded four $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors and two $1,000 scholarships to high school music students.
