Coronado High School in California is using more than $3 million in grants to make several renovations to its campus, including facility improvements and technology upgrades, the Union-Tribune reports.
According to the report, the school received three separate grants - two worth $1.5 million and one worth $100,000 - to make the improvements to its theaters, film studio, music rooms and computer lab.
The school will reportedly add 18 new Mac desktops to its computer lab in October, and will equip the machines with industry-grade editing software.
Many schools use grants provided by state and federal governments, nonprofits or other organizations to invest in new technology for the classroom. For example, a school may purchase a computer, an interactive whiteboard or an HDMI projector for each classroom to give teachers additional tools to enhance the education experience.
Many educators have found technology plays a vital role in the classroom. According to a recent study by Cisco, 85 percent of surveyed education administrators and IT decision-makers said they believe technology is an important part of a student's education.
