In the face of shrinking budgets, California school still manages to upgrade technology

Vacaville Unified School District in Vacaville, California, is using grants and donations to invest in new technology and propel its classrooms into the 21st century, according to a recent Reporter article.
In recent years, the school district has managed to make upgrades to its computers, internet network and more, despite having no room in its budget for such improvements. According to the news provider, the school has benefited from generous donations from local businesses as well as grants from the government.
Recently, the district was awarded $250,000 through the state's Enhancing Education Through Technology grant. With the funding, the school district plans to equip several educators with faster internet connections, document cameras and classroom projectors.
According to Jepson Middle School principal Luci Del Rio, technology, such as a document camera, a computer or a classroom projector, is necessary in the digital age because its can enrich the learning experience.
According to the Reporter, the school district has also received grants from the Vacaville Public Education Foundation, the Beelard Foundation and the Frank H & Eva Buck Foundation.
