Scientific software developer Vernier Software & Technology recently announced it will award $300,000 to schools across the country to improve technology in the classroom.
In celebration of its 30th anniversary, the company said it will award grants totaling $10,000 each to 30 educational institutions, including 10 elementary or middle schools, 10 high school and 10 college or university science departments.
According to a company press release, each grantee will be able to use its $10,000 to purchase their choice of Vernier technology.
Many schools that receive grants from businesses and charitable organizations have used the money to purchase new classroom technology, including a state-of-the-art computer system, document camera or an HDMI projector for each classroom.
"We have had an amazing 30 years of helping educators integrate technology into their science labs," said company founder David Vernier. "Scientists and engineers are critical to future innovation, and we are thankful for the creativity, passion and dedication teachers have in developing fundamental, critical science skills for students of all ages."
Vernier is accepting applications until June 1, and will announce the grant winners by September 15.
