Two schools in Massachusetts recently joined the increasing list of educational bodies receiving grants to further their teaching plans and capabilities.
The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center awarded Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School and Bristol County Agricultural School $100,000 and $80,110, respectively, intending for each school to further their educational plans. The MLSC is currently implementing the state’s $1 billlion Life Sciences Initiative, which will last 10 years.
The two schools will use their newly allocated funds in various ways. Bristol County will improve their animal science department.
“We will have equipment that we have not had previously,” said Krista Paynton, the school districts’ superintendent. “Our students will be able to gain real world experience working with the types of equipment they will be working with once they move on from here, whether it be to a college or university or into the working world.”
While Bristol-Plymouth’s plans were not relayed, many other schools recently receiving grants have upgraded their technology, incorporating smartboards, computers and HDMI projectors.
In all, the MLSC has awarded 32 grants worth $3.4 million.
In addition to these schools, two others in Upton and Marlborough, Massachusetts, received grants to also further their life sciences education.
