The McCarthey Dressman Education Foundation recently announced it has opened the application process for teachers and educators across the United States to receive grants for the 2011-2012 school year.
The Teacher Development Grants are awarded to educators who demonstrate innovative teaching instruction for K-12 classrooms. According to the foundation, it will award individuals up to $10,000 each year for a maximum of three years.
One such innovation may involve the use of technology in the classroom. Educators have found providing students access to various tools, such as a computer, broadband internet or a
DLP projector, can give them the equipment they need to expand their educational experience beyond the classroom and help fuel their development.
Additionally, the foundation will provide Academic Enrichment Grants to fund programs for children from low-income households. These grants will also award individuals up to $10,000 for a maximum of three years.
Last year, the McCarthey Dressman Education Foundation awarded $180,000 in grants and scholarships for the 2010-2011 academic year, including four Teacher Development Grants and four Academic Enrichment Grants.
