
The Needham Education Foundation, based in Needham, Massachusetts, has set a deadline for those schools applying for its spring 2011 grants program. Schools are now eligible to submit their applications up until Friday, March 4.
NEF awards dozens of grants to deserving schools annually, intended to further education within the town's public school system. Schools can apply for grants worth up to $5,000.
All Needham Public School educators, administrators and even students are eligible for apply for the NEF grants.
Recently, schools receiving grants to further education have begun investing in better technology to augment teaching methods. Incorporation of a smartboard, a computer and an HDMI projector has seen drastic increases lately. In other areas, schools have used grants to provide education classes across a number of subjects, such as economics and personal finance.
NEF is one of many boards awarding grants to needy schools. The U.S. Department of Education has handed out several, most recently providing the Ohio school systems with $40 million to cultivate better learning.
