
Bright House Networks recently announced it will award K-12 educators in central Indiana who have demonstrated creative use of technology in the classroom with grants to fund innovative projects.
According to the cable television provider, teachers are only eligible to participate in the Educator Grant Program if they show creative use of cable programming, broadband tools, websites and streaming video in their lessons. Educators must submit a project summary detailing how the use the technology in the classroom.
Bright House Networks recognizes the important role technology can play in 21st century classroom. For example, educators have found they can use a laptop or tablet computer in conjunction with an HD-TV, LED monitor or
DLP projector to create a learning environment that engages students and fuels their educational growth.
"Recognizing and rewarding educators, who are using creativity to move schools and students forward through the use of technology is such a rewarding experience," said Karen Broach, Bright House Networks regional vice president of operations.
The company also announced a program to award high school seniors with new laptops and software. According to Bright House Networks, the Student Laptop Scholarship Program is designed to encourage college-readiness in seniors.
