The push for greater education and higher learning standards continues across the nation. Recently, the Opus Philanthropy Group's Better Way Foundation of Minnetonka, Minnesota, awarded the University of Great Falls a $60,000 grant.
The funding will be split during the next three years to "extend highly researched, effective practice training to those who provide child care and preschool opportunities in Great Falls and Cascade County," the Great Falls Tribute reports.
The University's Great Falls Early Childhood Coalition program was created to "empower parents, grandparents and childcare/preschool providers with resources to help children gain literacy skills" as well as help them develop their cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills.
UGF is the latest in a long list of schools to receive education grants this year. Schools focused on furthering their teaching capabilities have typically spent their grants on advanced technology, such as smartboards, computers and classroom projectors.
The Better Way Foundation normally provides these funds for larger universities with similar early childhood education programs. Like the BWF, Lowe's recently provided education grants to 14 schools in South Carolina to further learning initiatives.
