Educators at Hawthorne Elementary in Missoula, Montana, are utilizing cutting-edge technology to fuel development and educational experiences for many underprivileged students, the Missoulian reports.
According to the report, Hawthorne Elementary is a Title 1 school, where many students come from poor families and don't have access to technology at home. This could potentially put them at a disadvantage later in life when entering the workplace.
For this reason, school officials are increasing the use of technology in their curriculum, providing students with access to interactive equipment as well as hardware and software that enriches the learning experience.
Educators around the country have found technology can add new elements to the learning process for students. For example, teachers can use a computer, an interactive whiteboard or an HDMI projector to create a learning environment that inspires students to participate in lessons.
Technology is one of the many innovations helping to reform educational environments. During his most recent State of the Union address, President Obama said more steps need to be taken to improve the state of education in the United States.
