Danbury High School students will use iPods to listen to podcast reports on The Hunger Games. The Danbury Education Foundation in Danbury, Connecticut, is awarding five local schools a total of $11,000 to support innovative and creative programs aimed at enhancing the educational experience for students, News Times reports.

Danbury High School, King Street Primary, Mill Ridge Primary, King Street Intermediate and the Alternative Center for Excellence will all receive funding for activities and the purchasing of new educational equipment, such as musical instruments, books and a variety of technology.

The largest grant winner, Danbury High School, will use $5,000 to fund a project revolving around The Hunger Games, a book by Suzanne Collins. According to News Times, a portion of the grant will go toward purchasing 20 iPods, which the students can use to do a podcast report on the book instead of writing an essay.

The Alternative Center for Excellence will use $1,500 grant to purchase an interactive whiteboard for a science classroom. An interactive whiteboard utilizes a computer, specialized software and an overhead projector to display pictures, videos and other digital media.

Many educators have found they can use technology to enrich students' classroom experience. Tools, such as a computer, an interactive whiteboard or an HDMI projector, can be introduced to offer students a fresh approach to learning.
