The Fremont Public School Foundation in Fremont, Nebraska, recently used a sizable grant from its alumni to purchase several overhead projectors for its classrooms, the Fremont Tribune reports.
According to the Fremont Tribune, the school district would like to put an overhead projector in every one of its 320-plus classrooms. And with the recent $10,000 donation from the Fremont Public Schools Alumni Foundation, the district is only 20 classrooms away from its goal.
Fremont teachers are able to use the projectors in conjunction with their computers and interactive whiteboard to provide instructions and broaden the educational experience for students, the Fremont Tribute stated.
"The gift from the Alumni Association is really a big boost," said David Pinkall, executive director of the Fremont Public School Foundation. "This is a technology issue that opens other doors."
Educators have found technology, such as a laptop, an interactive whiteboard or HDMI projector, can be instrumental in providing students with 21st century skills. Schools across the country are investing in such technology to give students access to the tools they will likely need in the future.
