The Walmart Foundation recently awarded Lincoln Street School in Red Bluff, California, a $500 grant, with which the school plans to provide its students with eReader devices, Red Bluff Daily News reports.
According to Red Bluff Daily News, the new devices will further the school's use of innovative technology, as well as add to its established focus on providing flexible yet demanding approach to educational instruction.
"We're really excited to pilot the eReaders and so thankful for the support of the Walmart Foundation," said teacher Chris Byrd. "It is because of community partners such as this one that our school is able to pilot new programs and technologies to see what works for our students."
Educators have found they can incorporate cutting-edge technology to introduce new teaching methods to the classroom. For example, a teacher can connect a computer or tablet device to an HD-TV, LED monitor or HDMI projector to create a learning environment that encourages student participation.
Tablets and eReaders have become among the most sought-after technologies by educational institutions. John F. Kennedy High School in Mt. Angel, Oregon, recently purchased 13 Apple iPads to help students develop better writing skills, the Woodburn Independent reports.
