Two schools in the UK were recently recognized by Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer Asus for their innovative use of technology in the classroom.
West Dean Church of England Primary School in England and Croesyceiliog School in Wales were the recipients of the Classroom Innovation Awards sponsored by Asus, and both are now set to receive nearly $12,000 worth of equipment from the technology manufacturer.
The two schools were selected from a group of six primary and secondary educational institutions from the region at the annual BETT tradeshow held earlier this month in the UK. According to Classroom Innovation editor Richard Doughty, West Dean and Croesyceilog demonstrated a creative use of technology in the classroom, as well as "first-rate" participation at the trade show.
Many educators around the world have recognized technology can provide them with additional teaching resources to improve the educational experience for students. For example, a teacher can run a computer in conjunction with an HD-TV, LED monitor or
DLP projector to create an interactive learning environment where students are more eager to participate.
According to the BETT website, more than 600 exhibitors were present at the tradeshow to display the latest in educational technology, including interactive whiteboards, audio visual equipment and digital projectors.
