Fast food giant McDonald's recently awarded Cape Christian School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, more than $11,000 to invest in upgrades to its computer lab, the Southeast Missourian reports.
Awarded through the Ronald McDonald House Charity, the school's principal Jalon Lies was handed the check from local McDonald's restaurant owner Shannon Davis, who has three children attending Cape Christian School, the news provider stated.
The school, which was established in 1975 and is part of the Association of Christian Schools International, was in need of several significant upgrades to its computer labs, which had become populated with outdated technology in recent years.
According to the Southeast Missourian, the upgrades will allow the students to utilize state-of-the-art technology, improving their access to keyboarding and computer skills, as well as research and educational programs. By connecting a computer to an HD-TV, LED monitor or overhead
DLP projector, educators are able to involve more students simultaneously and encourage participation.
Schools around the country are investing in interactive technology to improve their educational resources. Many educators have found that interactive screen or laptop computers can provide a great alternative to traditional tools, such as chalkboards and encyclopedias.
