Public and private schools in Onalaska, Wisconsin, will be able to fund 10 innovative projects thanks to a $5,600 grant provided by the Onalaska Foundation for Educational Excellent, the Courier-Life recently reported.
According to the news source, projects funded by the grant include everything from classroom technology to new musical instruments to inviting Onalaska High School graduate and award-winning poet Kyle Myhre to teach writing workshops for students.
New technology funded by the grants include three Nook eReaders from Barnes & Noble for second grade teachers at Eagle Bluff Elementary, as well as new document cameras for teachers at St. Patrick's Elementary.
Schools looking to add new technology to the classroom often find interactive equipment, such as an eReader or a laptop, can encourage students to participate in lessons. Additionally, this technology can be used in conjunction with an HD-TV, LED monitor or
DLP projector to reach more students simultaneously.
Established in 1998, the Onalaska Foundation has awarded more than $63,000 to teachers for innovative projects, Courier-Life reports.
