The Central Board of Secondary Education in India recently issued a directive that will require all associated schools to integrate digital technology into their classrooms, the Times of India reports.
Several schools throughout the country have already updated their technology by installing digital equipment, such as computers, an interactive whiteboard or a
DLP projector, to attract more students, according to the news provider.
However, with the new initiative, every classroom will be required to have a computer, an interactive white board system, an electronic response system and a classroom projector.
"The [Human Resource Development] ministry has announced 2010 [through 2020] as decade of reasoning and critical thinking and the board is implementing information and communication technology in schools to get the maximum output," Vineet Joshihi, CBSE chairman, stated in a letter to the schools.
Technology has proven to be a useful resource for both teachers and students around the world. Interactive technology, such as a computer or tablet PC, used in conjunction with an HD-TV, LED monitor or HDMI projector can expand a classroom beyond its walls and help creating a learning environment where students are more likely to be engaged.
