Electronic equipment manufacturer Tierney Brothers recently announced it has awarded its 2010 Clasroom of the Future Technology Grant to Dakota County Alternative Learning School in Rosemont, Minnesota.
To enhance the needs of educators through technology, Tierney Brothers will provide the school with an interactive smart board, video equipment and a classroom projector.
According to Tierney Brothers, more than 150 Minnesota schools competed for the prize, but DCALS was ultimately chosen for its established use of technology tools and programs, which provide students with opportunities to enhance their education.
Educators have found they can connect a classroom computer and other digital equipment to an interactive smart board, HD-TV or
DLP projector to create an atmosphere in which students feel more excited to participate. Additionally, the technology can provide students with an opportunity to get hands-on experience with equipment they will likely use in the future.
The company plans to install the new equipment in early 2011.
Tierney Brothers is also awarding Classroom of the Future Technology Technology Grants to schools in Wisconsin and Iowa. Those winners will be announced in March next year.
