Kelly Middle School in Norwich, Connecticut, will receive a $10,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut to invest in new technology for the classroom, the Norwich Bulletin reports.
According to the Norwich Bulletin, the middle school will purchase 12 Apple iPads and three laptops, which will teach students how to use interactive technology.
Educators have found they can use interactive technology, such as laptops and iPads, in conjunction with an HD-TV, LED monitor or an HDMI classroom projector to create a fun learning atmosphere that promotes student participation. In addition, the hands-on experience children have with the technology can provide them with valuable skills they will need in the future.
The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut has helped donors give back to their community since 1982. The organization partners with several local entities, including governments, corporations and other foundations to help address issues and strengthen the community.
According to the Norwich Bulletin, the foundation awarded Teachers' Memorial Middle School in Norwich, $140,000 to interactive classroom technology last May.
