Technology integration earns Pennsylvania college high marks

Every classroom at MCCC is installed with smart technology, including an interactive whiteboard, a computer and a classroom projector.Montgomery County Community College in Pennsylvania recently received an A+ rating from the Center for Digital Education and Converge Online for its implementation of technology in the classroom, the Pottstown Mercury reports.

According to the Mercury, the Center for Digital Education and Converge Online surveys community colleges and examines their use of technological tools for enhancing teaching and learning experiences.

This is the third consecutive year MCCC has been ranked among the top community colleges.

Every classroom at MCCC is equipped with smart technology, including an interactive whiteboard, a computer and a classroom projector. Faculty members at the school use the technology to encourage student interaction and enhance the learning environment, the Mercury reports.

"By adapting national best practices, we are constantly assessing ourselves, always trying to make our student outcomes better using technology as a tool to focus on teaching and learning," said MCCC president Karen Stout.

The survey examined roughly 1,000 community colleges around the country. According to the Converge magazine, other institutions to receive A+ ratings include Catawba Valley, Laramie Country, Northern Virginia and Tompkins Cortland community colleges.
