Massachusetts students urge school board for projectors
November 24, 2010

Students at the Village School in Marblehead, Massachusetts recently urged their school board to invest in new classroom projectors. The Marblehead School Committee recently listened to pleas from a group of sixth-graders to invest in new classroom projectors at the Village School in Marblehead, Massachusetts.

According to the Marblehead Reporter, the students said the lack of technology in their classrooms was hindering their education. A new classroom projector, on the other hand, would provide additional resources to their learning experience, one student asserted.

"I am an enthusiastic learner, but sometimes it's difficult to be a great learner if you don't have the right materials," said student Maddie Newall. "This projector would make our lives easier in the classroom. If our classes were reading a book or article, not all the students would need a copy because it would be under the projector.”

Educators and students alike recognize the importance of incorporating technology in the classroom. By connecting a computer to an HD-TV, LED monitor or a DLP projector, teachers can create a learning environment where students feel more encouraged to participate.

Members of the committee told the students technology was one of its priorities in the budget process, according to the Marblehead Reporter.
