New Hampshire teachers integrating technology to advance everyday lesson plans

Portsmouth elementary school teachers are integrating technology into their classrooms to enhance everyday lesson plans.Just as technology, such as smartphones and tablet PCs, is becoming indispensable to the lives of many professionals, so are elementary school teachers in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, finding new technology to be a vital aspect in the 21st century classroom, Sea Coast Online recently reported.

Portsmouth elementary school teachers are integrating technology into their classrooms to enhance everyday lesson plans. The teachers and school officials say interactive technology, such as a document camera, netbook or classroom projector, has enabled them to create more efficient lessons and prepare learners in the 21st century.

“We don’t want [students] to step into the classroom and step back in time, because they are using this technology with video games and computers and iPods,” said Jennifer Middaugh, coordinator and technology instructor with the Seacoast Professional Development Center. “We need to be able to provide students with some of those things that will enhance their learning and those things they are familiar with”

Today’s students are growing up in a digitally rich world, and this is changing the landscape of the classroom. Studies show students have come to expect technology in their learning environment, just as they do in other areas of the lives.
