Richmond High School in Richmond, Indiana, recently received a grant that will provide iPads to Jeremy Hill’s English classroom, the Palladium Item reports.
Using Apple’s popular tablet device, students will have access to the internet without having to leave their desks.
“They don’t have to get up and go to a computer lab or have three or four people on the classroom computers,” said Rob Tidrow, technology coordinator at Richmond Community Schools. “You just pass out the iPads.”
The school system used the grant to purchase more than 30 iPads for the classroom. Educators have found using interactive technology, such as iPads or computers, in conjuction with an HD-TV, LED monitor or classroom
DLP projector gives teachers an additional lesson tool and creates a more engaging learning environment for students.
Tidrow said the devices will be used by more than 100 students every day.
Many schools around the country are investing in new technology, such as iPads, to enhance students’ educations. Tidrow also noted that the tools can be used to learn about the authors they are studying by accessing information about their upcoming books or reading their blogs.
