A teacher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Meriden, Connecticut, recently received an award for her efforts to enhance student learning through the implementation of technology in the classroom, the Meriden Record Journal reports.
Mount Carmel principal Norine McDermott told the Record Journal teacher Carolyn Daniels is not one to seek the spotlight, but she is one of the more talented teachers at the school when it comes to technology.
Given her talents, McDermott encouraged Daniels to submit a lesson plan to the Archdiocese of Hartford to win the technology award, which came with a multimedia classroom projector.
Though Daniels reportedly donated the projector to better serve another classroom in the school, she said she already uses Smart Boards, iPods, iTouch mp3 players and iPads as part of her lessons in the classrooms.
Teachers have found using interactive technology, such as a classroom computer, Smart Board or
DLP projector can enhance their lessons to further engage students.
“Technology energizes the kids and makes them think outside the box,” Daniels told the Record Journal. “And it connects them all around the world.”
