Schools in Attalla, Alabama, recently used grant money to invest in the latest technology to ensure students are prepared for the future.
The Attalla City School District in Etowah County has received more then $300,000 in grant money to pay for salaries, training and the purchase of 10 new iPads for administrators, teachers and students, the Gadsden Times reports.
Schools around the country are investing in new technology to engage students and help them become technologically savvy. Educators have found by investing in new equipments, such as an iPad, digital camera or a
DLP projector, students will be more involved in class lessons and excited to learn.
“We’re trying to prepare today’s students for tomorrows jobs,” said Wesley Gulledge, assistant principal of Etowah Middle School and site director of the school’s 21st Century Community Learning Center. “Tomorrow’s jobs are going to want them to have technology skills.”
The school district already uses 20 iPads for its 21st Century Community Learning Center afterschool program, but the devices can only be used for that program. With the new grant, teachers and students will be able to use the additional iPads during the school day.
