Pennsylvania school opens its doors to students after undergoing $17 million face-lift

When students arrived back to Washington Elementary in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on Thursday, their school looked much different than it had last September, the Intelligencer Journal reports.
Since the beginning of the last school year, the facility has undergone significant renovations, including both infrastructure and technology upgrades.
Teachers and students will have access to new equipment, including cutting-edge interactive whiteboards. Many educators have used these new learning tools with an HDTV, LED monitor or
USB projector to create an academic learning environment that promotes educational growth and class participation. Using a projector allows educators to reach more students at one time, while also exposing them to the newest fun and exciting gadgets on the market.
Experts have recognized that adding new technology to classrooms is a useful way of stimulating interest among students. Many teachers have introduced new approaches and teaching techniques, many of which involve hands-on learning and fun equipment, to help make lessons more appealing for kids.
The school also opened with a new gymnasium, cafeteria and art room, according to the report. The Lancaster district serves nearly 10,000 students at its 21 schools.
