The state is one of a select group of winners that will share $3.4 billion for school improvements.
The federal funding will improve low-performing schools and allow schools statewide to invest in new technology.

Many schools have introduced cutting-edge technology into the classroom as a way of stimulating interest from students. By connecting a laptop to an HD TV, LED monitor or USB projector, teachers can create a learning environment that can reach a wider audience of students at one time.

Educators have been exploring new learning initiatives as a way of connecting with at-risk students who are struggling to stay in school. Many of the new programs developed by education leaders involve using hands-on equipment and fun interactive tools, such as smartboards and digital cameras.
