Schools across the country are embracing the use of high-tech equipment in the classroom. By introducing gadgets such as iPads and smartboards to students, educators hope to create a stimulating learning environment that connects better with todays kids more than conventional methods.
Elkhorn High School in Omaha, Nebraska will open this fall with a mounted projector in every classroom, Omaha.com reports. The addition of an HD TV, LED monitor or
USB projector in school environments allows teachers to be more versatile with how they present lessons to the class.
Instead of traditional stand-at-the-front lectures, more educators are looking at technology-enabling strategies that are more fun for students. Projecting videos or educational games allows more students to be involved at one time. Mix in other high-tech items like fast laptops and digital cameras, and students have a hands-on learning opportunity that keeps them engaged with lessons.
The upgrades at Elkhorn High coincide with the opening of a new school in the same district, Elkhorn South High School. The new school may look to provide the same commitment to interactive learning as EHS.
