City officials in Morris, Illinois, recently decided to fast track a proposal to install new audio visual equipment at the Municipal Services Facility, the Morris Daily Herald reports.
The city's Building and Grounds Committee unanimously agreed to recommend the city council spend $37,825 for two 40-inch LCD monitors, 12 wireless microphones, two video projectors and a
business projector system for council chambers.
According to the report, people often complain about not being able to hear or see speakers during city council meetings. If approved, the spending will cover cost of the equipment, as well as installation by Century Electronics.
"This should have been done a long time ago. We need to pass it and get it done," said incoming alderman Julian Houston.
Many city councils across the United States are investing in new audio visual equipment to enhance their meetings for both council members and residents. According to the Des Moines Register, the city council of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, recently spent $125,000 on AV equipment for its new city hall.
