The Nonprofit Technology Network recently announced it has received $1.1 million from Google's Charitable Giving Fund of Tides Foundation to promote technology usage and education among nonprofits.
NTEN, which helps other nonprofits utilize technology to promote social change, said this is the first grant it has received from Google, and the money would benefit the entire nonprofit community.
"This is not just an investment in NTEN. It's an investment in our entire sector," said Holly Ross, NTEN executive director. "With this support, we can provide new ways to help our community connect with each other and learn about the most important technology strategies, tools and trends."
Businesses and other organizations have found investing in new technology, such as cloud computing, an eco-friendly computer or an HDMI projector, can improve their efficiency and also their bottom line by reducing operational costs.
NTEN currently receives the bulk of its funding from membership donations and fees. While the nonprofit has more than 10,000 members, most its services are available to the entire nonprofit community.
