Hewlett-Packard recently announced the release of its new solution to provide businesses with greater access to high-definition videoconferencing on both desktop and conference room platforms.
The company claims its new HP Visual Collaboration enables customers to run high-definition video on their own enterprise networks, reducing infrastructure and bandwidth costs. The software can be installed on a desktop PC or notebook, which can be connected to an HD-TV, LED monitor or HDMI projector to allow users to meet "face-to-face" with colleagues both inside and outside the company.
HP also noted the software reduces the need for travel and provides an environmentally friendly alternative to help businesses decrease their carbon emissions. Companies that want to further their green efforts can use the product in conjunction with a mercury free projector that utilizes economical laser and LED technology.
The company said over the last 36 months, its videoconferencing products have save more than 174,956 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
Businesses are investing more in videoconferencing solutions as a means of reducing other operational costs. According to a recent study by Global Industry Analysts, the videoconferencing market is expected to reach $10.8 billion by 2015.
