November 4, 2010

To enhance video feeds, many companies will connect videoconferencing equipment to an HD-TV, LED monitor or USB projector. With the flurry of new technology announcements in recent weeks, it is apparent that enterprise videoconferencing is in high demand, according to NetworkWorld.

Austin, Texas-based high-definition conferencing firm LifeSize recently introduced a new camera that works with companies' videoconferencing systems. According to LifeSize, which is a part of Logitech, the camera offers a 10x optical zoom and is designed for large meeting rooms, auditoriums and lectures halls.

In addition to LifeSize, Glowpoint and Acme Packet recently announced a partnership to bring Acme’s session border controllers to Glowpoint’s business-to-business video conferencing platform.

Many businesses rely on videoconferencing as an essential tool to communicate with employees and other businesses, while also reducing the cost of travel. To enhance video feeds, many companies will connect these new technologies to an HD-TV, LED monitor or USB projector.

“Extending videoconferencing beyond the firewall increases the value of a telepresence investment by broadening access to business partners and customers, increasing opportunities to leverage telepresence for both travel avoidance as well as to improve overall meeting experiences,” NetworkWorld stated.

According to a recent benchmark report by Nemertes, more than 80 percent of companies are now using some form of video conferencing.
