Half of SMBs expect to spend 20 percent on IT during the next year, survey reveals

A newly released survey concerning small- and medium-sized businesses found a large number of SMBs plan to increase their spending on technology and services during the next 12 months.
In the survey, titled 2010 Small Medium Businesses Routes to Market Study and conducted by Hubspot and SMB group, researchers wrote SMBs are very confused and often have trouble realizing what solutions will best help meet business challenges and goals.
Despite the initial confusion, many companies have said they want to improve their technology and services. The survey found 50 percent of the respondents said they expect to increase their investments in technology services up to 20 percent during the next 12 months, according to the survey.
The focus on improving technology in conjunction with the lasting effects of the recession may encourage businesses to purchase sustainable products. By investing in an efficient lighting system, energy-saving computer or laptop and mercury-free
USB projector, businesses can reduce their long-term expenses while still using needed tools in the office.
The decision to invest in green technology is reverberating across the country, as businesses in Colorado and Connecticut have shown interest in embracing environmentally friendly and efficient technology.
