Research firm Gartner recently adjusted its IT market forecast, predicting the industry will continue to grow, just not as much as the firm had expected.
The enterprise IT market will certainly return to growth in 2010, but we now expect it will grow by only 2.9 percent globally, down from the 4.1 percent growth we had forecast earlier this year, said Kenneth Brant, research director at Gartner.
The communications media and services industry will spend 3.6 percent more this year than in 2009, showing signs that many companies are looking to add new technology. New communication software and services, including videoconferencing and other forms of telecommunications, have become widely adopted among businesses.
Companies can connect their computers running videoconferencing software to an HD TV, LED monitor or
business projector and have the capability of holding web-based meetings and forums with clients or workers who are out of the office. The use of an
HDMI projector increases the clarity of the video feed, while also making the images large enough for more people to be involved.
Despite having less growth than originally anticipated, total IT spending is expected to reach just over $2.4 trillion by the end of the year, up from $2.3 trillion in 2009.
