Survey finds consumers want more sustainable products
July 2, 2010

Consumer demand for clean products is increasing, accordign to a recent surveyBusinesses may want to increase their supply of green products in light of a recent online survey, which found growing consumer demand for clean goods.

Nearly 2,014 U.S. adults responded to questions detailing their plans for purchasing environmentally friendly products in the survey, with the majority of respondents stating they purchase the same or more clean energy items compared to last year, the Financial Post relays.

Many consumers will choose an ecofriendly good, such as an energy-saving computer, an efficient light bulb or a mercury-free DLP projector, instead of conventional non-sustainable products.

Mike Kapalko, SCA Tissue’s sustainability marketing manager, told the Financial Post “the results of the two surveys indicate a true trend - that consumer interest in green is here to stay, regardless of region, age, gender or the country’s economic state.”

In addition to offering more sustainable equipment, business owners should better promote their clean energy goods, according to the report. By doing so, companies may be able to tap into the 62 percent of adults who said they are “equally as likely or more likely to visit a business that focuses on being green,” the Financial Post relays.

Consumers aren’t the only ones demanding green technology, as a recent Regus survey found many small companies are also looking to invest in clean products to help them reduce their long-term costs and be more environmentally conscious.ADNFCR-3190-ID-19870123-ADNFCR
