Many businesses have had to find alternative methods of conducting meetings with clients to reduce travel expenses and save on overall operational costs.
According to a Philadelphia Inquirer report, some companies have adopted videoconferencing as a way of saving money by using sustainable technology. Companies can connect their computers to a large TV, LCD monitor or
HDMI projector, and have the opportunity to discuss business ventures with clients through a broadband connection.
The report stated an advanced version of videoconferencing, telepresence, has become more efficient and common among companies that have workers located in numerous locations.
Issa Jouaneh, a vice president in American Express' business travel division, said "it's absolutely one of the hot topics right now, as people are looking to drive more value out of spending on travel meetings," the Inquirer relays.
Videoconferencing and telepresence may be a great option for businesses that spent a lot of money each year for workers to travel to meet clients. Although the economy has shown signs of recovery, some businesses still do not have the finances to maintain expensive travel programs, meaning many may choose an alternative that requires a one-time investment.
