May 21, 2010

A new center in North Carolina will train people to find jobsA new center in East Durham, North Carolina has recently opened intending to help the unemployed find jobs through training and advice sessions, the Sunderland Echo reports.

YMS Training was opened by the mayor, councillor Brian Allen, and offers courses to those without jobs to prepare them for potential job seeking. The center is equipped with new technology including a large flat screen TV, laptop computer and widescreen projector. In addition, the center has a digital projector screen and sound system meant to accommodate two groups of trainees.

"The new centre is a fantastic facility and will be of great benefit to people such as those who are unemployed and who need as much help as they can possibly get to get back into work," said Allen, the Sunderland Echo relays.

Malcom McGeachy, the center's training director, believes the opening was conducted at an optimal time, as he witnessed an increase in the demand for similar services.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, North Carolina's unemployment rate as of March was 10.9 percent.
