Along with Google Android and a generally combative spirit amongst the major wireless players, one of the main focuses of this week's CTIA Wireless conference was green technology, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The Journal said that "companies are increasingly paying attention to the environmental impact of their business. Tech-analysis firm IDC came out with a report saying Nokia was the greenest of the handset manufacturers, while HTC lagged behind everyone else. Apple, which makes a lot of noise about its environmentally friendly ways, came in third."
Green technology is rapidly becoming an important topic not just for handset makers and wireless companies, but for nearly any type of business active in the developed world. Experts say that, with energy efficient technology available for everything from office equipment such as laptops or even business projectors, there are few excuses left to companies bent on resisting this trend.
A further illustration of this fact can be found in a story from CNET published Thursday, which describes the new green IT class offered by professional association CompTIA, with an associated certification.
